We are all a work in progress…
The first thing I ever wanted to be was Tweety Bird… Yes I
was a small child and yes I thought cartoons were real people dressed up in
costumes (don’t judge…). But that was the very first time I said, “I can do that”,
“ I want to swing on a perch and get hit with a mallet, I want Tom to chase me
and to outsmart him every time…”. Yes, that was my first dream. I begged my Mom for a Tweety Bird costume for
Halloween and wore that costume proudly every time I had the chance. I would
practice outsmarting my brother while he chased me around the house; it was my
first step to becoming Tweety Bird, my first dream. Hundreds of dreams and
small steps toward those later, achieving some and not others, I had a dream of
becoming a CrossFit Coach. I never would have guessed when I was 4 and I wanted
to be Tweety Bird, I would actually end up being a Coach, and that helping
people and changing lives would be what got me out of bed, fired up, every
morning! We evolve, we change, we grow and we transform every day. Life is amazing in that way. How a person you meet by chance, can
introduce you to something that your world will eventually revolve around. It’s a great thing. We find new loves, set new goals, and have
new joys. It’s exciting and sometimes
frustrating. I cant exactly pinpoint the
moment when I knew I wanted to help people thru Coaching and CrossFit because
now it seems like such a part of me that I cant imagine that I have every really
wanted to be anything else. I work at
it, study it, and practice it every day. We can only accomplish things that we
set goals for and work towards. I have
so many goals as a Coach and an Athlete that I do not know if I will every
reach every single one of them. All I do
know is that every day that I get out of bed and spend time working toward one
of those goals, that I am that much closer. I may not Coach someone to a PR
every day, and I may not program the perfect WOD every day, but I am still one
step closer to achieving those goals. Sometimes our failures are our most
important lessons, and as long as we learn from them, they are actually
victories. I am a work in progress, I
will practice, I will study, I will work hard, I will have patience, I will
sometimes fail, I will sometimes win, and I will ultimately achieve my goals.
How about you? ~ Coach Jessi
